Sugar, spice, and everything nice!
We like pie here on the Ranch and this is one of the favorites, especially in autumn. It is so sweet and flavorful what's not to like?My mom has made this many times and it usually turns out great. The cranberries blended in give it a pop of color and flavor. It is better than a simple apple pie which can sometimes become to sweet or just blah. Once the cranberries are in there it is just a slice of tangy sweetness. Throw some ice cream on it and you have a wonderful concoction. Vanilla ice cream melting into cinnamon filling ans flaky crust. Ohh, this pie is truly delicious. This pie is often on our table at Thanksgiving. Which shows how good it is to be included in the meals on that special day.
Ingredients:
4 cups apple peeled and thinly sliced
2/3 cup sugar
1 3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 cups cranberries
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup flour
3 Tbsp. butter
1/2 cup pecans
Directions:
Make sure that you have an unbaked pie shell ready. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
Peel and slice the apples thinly and place into a bowl.
Mix the spices and sugar then add them to the apples. Stir this up until all of the apples are coated.
Now pour your cranberries into the mix and stir them till fully coated in sugar.
Pour the fruit mixture into the unbaked pie crust and place in the oven for fifteen minutes.
While the pie is baking mix together the flour, brown sugar, butter, and pecans. Mix this all together and set aside.
Once the fruit has sunk a little put the topping on and smooth it out on the top of the pie. Then bake the pie until the crust and topping become brown.
Remove the pie from the oven and let cool before eating. Now you have a delicious apple cranberry pie. This taste great with vanilla ice cream. I hope you enjoy.
Tips:
You can press a spoon around the edge of the crust to give it a more finished look.
